February was a huge month for skateboarding in Australia with Bowl-a-Rama at Bondi followed by the Australian Bowlriding Championships at Bar Beach. The Bonar Brothers were lucky to win VIP tickets to Bowl-a-Rama through a national Guzman y Gomez comp where they had to ollie over a Burrito!? (They also won a signed deck and $250 worth of Guzman which they are a bit sick of now!!). The boys were also stoked as they got to meet their two favourite skaters - X Games athletes Tom Scharr and Trey Wood.
The weekend after this the boys skated in the ABC competition and at 5 years old they were the youngest skaters there. They competed well above their age group in the Under 16's division and came 25th and 26th out of 33 kids. Boaz had been working on his frontside ollie's and airs and nailed a few smooth runs whilst Alfie impressed by dropping in switch to 360 spin in his third run.
The Bonar Brothers have a few trips planned over the next few months to explore some new skateparks - maybe over to Tasmania to check out the new Rosny Skatepark and bowl. There aren't immediate plans for other comps but they are really hoping to get to Melbourne in December/January for a few new contests. They have introduced a micro groms division for under 9's which will be perfect for the twins!
